Leadership

Why We Have Leaders

God has determined that men should take on the responsibility of faithful servant leadership (Matthew 20:25, 26) in the local church.  He has spelled out the qualifications (1 Timothy 3) for both pastors and deacons.  We are thankful for our servant leaders who willingly take on this vital work.

Pastor Jim Goodew

Jim was saved in 8th grade following a message from God’s word at church on a Sunday evening. He met his wife, Susie, at Faith Baptist Bible college and Theological Seminary (FBBC&S) in Ankeny Iowa. They have 6 children and 2 grandchildren.

The Goodews enjoy  the outdoors, gardening, and hiking.  Jim loves hunting of various sorts and fishing. Jim earned both his BS in Pastoral Studies and his MA in Practical Theology at FBBC&S. Prior to coming to Grace, Jim served at Faith Baptist church in Brainerd, MN for 28 years. He is burdened that the local church faithfully and practically proclaim God’s Word. Jim has had extensive training and experience in biblical counseling. This is a major focus in his leadership at Grace. Along with this, he has a desire to see people trained to use their gifts and abilities to faithfully serve the Lord and help others. He desires to see people come to know God personally and to serve Him.  A favorite verse of his is Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
